Ithaca
What can be done in Ithaca, a city with approximately 30000 inhabitants (accoriding to the latest count in 2006) and 2000 students? Enough to fill a multiday visit. First of all the city, sociable because of all the students of Cornell University and Ithaca College, and enough places to spend your afternoons and evenings. Within a circle of 15 kilometers of Ithaca centre you can find over 100 waterfalls in de National Parks surrounding Ithaca.
One of these National Parks is the Robert H. Treman State Park. This park is ideal for hikes through forests, gorges (scoured riverbeds) and along rivers (there is a beautiful route along Enfield Creek, with a length of 7.2 kilometers, which will lead you along several waterfalls). For those of you who don’t like to hike, a visit of the Park is still worth it, because you can swim at some of the waterfalls, so don’t forget to bring your swimming shorts or bikini!
